about us

PREMIUM QUALITY UTILITY POLES

Stella-Jones provides over one million poles per year to replace, upgrade and develop new electrical utility and telecommunications lines across Canada. In doing so they are able not only contribute positively in their communities but also increase the safety of those living nearby by making it easier on first responders during emergencies such as fires or earthquakes!

North America’s electric grid is built on SUPPORTING THE RELIABLE AND STRONG backs of wood poles. They provide us with an ample amount of renewable resources, such as strength and resiliency, that can’t be found anywhere else!

We sell high-quality poles to suit a variety of climates and custom manufacturing services that meet customers’ unique specifications across the continent.

How Utility Poles are Made

Foresters comb through forests to find the perfect trees: between 10 and 20 inches in diameter; at least 30 feet tall, with straight trunks. The foresight then marks these healthy looking candidates for cutting, so they can be harvested efficiently without causing unnecessary damage or harm during sawing up their branches into logs (which would only waste time).

Then they’re cut into specific lengths and trucked off to a mill. There, the logs are debarked before being sorted by width or length for 3 days at 200 degrees in an oven-like kiln until it’s dry!

The poles are then put into a cylinder where the millers will pump all of its air out, fill it with 98% water and 2% preservatives (chrome, copper or arsenic), which helps make them mold-resistant. After they’ve been preserved this way for 45 – 60 years, we sample each one to assure there’s enough protection against decay seeping in; once done, our team moves on!

We all know how important our electrical wires and utility poles are to us. You need protection from harmful animals that can destroy your property or interrupt electricity usage! Contact critter guard now with any questions about what kind of guard is right for you, whether it’s something as simple as netting over the top (to keep out bigger pests), fencing along entire sides if there isn’t enough space around them yet plus protecting both above ground runs alongside buried cables at depth – we’ve got experts waiting 24/7 heads-up
