The holes will be drilled entirely through the ground line area of this pole, so that preservatives can attach and penetrate throughout its cross-section.

How Utility Poles are Made

The first step in making utility poles is to cut down a log that is longer than needed. The next process involves sawing off the branches on either side, leaving only what’s necessary for support and shape before sending it through an electric pole Sawyer (a sort of giant blade). This creates two pieces: A smaller inner core with smooth sides; And an outer shell made up mostly from cross-connected flanges – also called sleeves – which will eventually connect them together at their base.”

Western Red Cedar

Grown in the lush Pacific Northwest, this lightweight and durable pole species is popular for its natural insecticidal properties. May be pressure treated or thermalized to make it easier on trees during logging processes – a great choice!

Douglas Fir

Grown in the North West, this lightweight premium pole species is popular for its natural insecticidal properties. May be pressure treated or heated up and easy to climb!

Southern Yellow Pine

The heartwood of this tree is a dark color, with lighter stripes running through it. It’s an easy-to treat species that has thick sapwood making up most its thickness and width as well!

Red Pine

This lightweight, straight and evenly grained species with moderate decay resistance is an excellent choice for outdoor applications.

FAQs

The tree is a marvel of engineering and design, capable not only to meet the needs for power distribution but also stand tall among its surroundings.

The ANSI and CSA standards take wood pole strength varies by species. But, they use this as an opportunity to create different dimensions for each class of poles so that all are approximately equal in power-to weight ratio!

Some of the most common species used as utility poles are Southern Pine, Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar.

wood is the most energy-efficient material for use by electric utilities in providing electrical service to public. It has many benefits including availability and cost which make it better than any other alternatives available today
